Who's Next for the Spider?
After Anderson Silva’s victory over Damian Maia at UFC 112, the question is who is next in line. The UFC president was not impressed at all with the Spider’s performance and realizes he needs to do something about it. Silva is wiping out every middleweight that is put against him and is not really being challenged as a fighter. I think it is time for Silva to step up to light-heavyweight or heavyweight and fight a legit contender. If Silva steps up to LHW, his possible fights may include Jon Jones, Shogun Rua, Rashad Evans, or maybe even UFC legend Chuck Liddell. Each one of these fights for be a challenge for Silva and would prove that the LHW division is no joke. If Silva made the jump to the heavyweight division his fights may include going toe to toe with Fedor Emelianenko, Pat Barry, Gabriel Gonzaga, Cheick Kongo, or Heath Herring if he ever comes back to MMA. All these fights would be valid challenges to Silva and it would be a test for the Spider to fight someone who is naturally bigger and stronger than him. The UFC has to do something quick or fans will start losing interest because their best fighter’s fights are just plain boring. And I think this will definitely add a twist to the division that Silva joins and also make the UFC a lot more dynamic.
